Hansens, The
Name: Magnus and Erin Hansen
Race: Human
Occupation: Exobiologists
Objective: Study of the Borg

Mother and father of Annika Hansen, the girl who later grew into Seven of Nine, magnus and Erin Hansen were human exobiologists whose aim was to study the Borg from a proximity closer than ever before attempted. Although Starfleet was concerned about the security of the study, the Federation Council on Exobiology gave the go-ahead for the Hansen's mission on stardate 32611.4, and on stardate 32623.5 the Hansens made their first sighting, observing a Borg cube measuring 28 cubic kilometres and containing over 129,000 individual life forms. Although the Hansens were skilled scientists, they had little respect for authority which stood in their way, and found it necessary to deviate from their flight plan, cross the Romulan Neutral Zone, and disobey a direct order to return to Federation space in the pursuit of the their studies. The Hansens reached the Delta Quadrant on stardate 32629.4 when, after three.

Ransom, John
Name: John "Rudie" Ransom
Rank: Captain
Command: U.S.S. Equinox
Vessel Class: Nova
Mission : Planetary Research

Originally an exobiologist, Ransom was promoted to Captain following his successful attempt at first contact with the Iridians, a race thought to be long extinct by both the Federation and the Borg. Ransom's final command, the U.S.S. Equinox, was transported to the Delta Quadrant by the Caretaker, where Ransom's crew discovered a horrific way of speeding their journey home. Although commendably single-minded, Ransom is tactically repetitive, and is willing to break the Prime Directive if it suits his needs to do so.

Sulu, Captain Hikaru
Captain Hikaru Sulu's name will be linked forever to that of Captain James T. Kirk. As the helmsman of the U.S.S. Enterprise, Sulu served under Kirk during that vessel's historic five year mission. His promising Starfleet career nearly came to a premature end when he was stranded on the planet Alfa 117. A malfunction prevented the transporter from beaming him back on board. Surviving the overnight temperature of minus on hundred and twenty, Sulu and his team were finally rescued when Spock and Scotty figured out how to correct he problems.

Having served with Kirk for many years, Sulu became hungry for promotion. His push for the centre seat suffered a severe set-back when he flagrantly disregarded Starfleet orders and assisted Kirk in the rescue of Captain Spock from the Genesis planet. Years later, he was finally promoted to Captain and given command of the starship he had always wanted, the Excelsior. His first mission was to take part in a fleet-wide scientific endeavour to map planetary gaseous anomalies.
