stardate: unknown. When the crew finds a deactivated humanoid robot floating in space, B'Elanna Torres attempts to repair this mysterious mechanical "man." As the engineer successfully repairs him, bringing him back to "life", he threatens Torres to build more prototypes of the near extinct sentient artificial life-form or face Voyager's destruction.

After Voyager is severely attacked by Kazon, causing one casualty, Chakotay appeals to Janeway to start thinking more like the Maquis and create a strategic alliance with leaders of several Kazon factions.
