stardate 49690.1. Janeway and Chakotay are infected with a potentially fatal viral disease after exposure to an insectoid life form on a planet. Their only way to stay alive is to settle on a planet in the Delta Quadrant while the crew of Voyager has no choice but to continue their journey to the Alpha Quadrant under the command of Lieutenant Tuvok.

stardate: unknown. A transmission from the recently-discovered-Cardassian, Seska, announces that she has Chakotay's child and wants to board Voyager to talk to him. Chakotay has his doubts, but soon rethinks and approves it. Soon, the crew of Voyager finds themselves a situation of mutiny lead by Seska. The crew is forced to abandon to a planet as she takes over control of the starship.
