Captain Janeway's Operation's Officer Harry Kim joined Starfleet in 2367 and graduated the academy on stardate 47918.

During his years in Starfleet Academy, Harry Kim was the editor for the academy's newspaper for a year. After his graduation on stardate 47918 he was assigned to his first mission aboard the U.S.S. Voyager commanded by Kathryn Janeway serving her as her Operations Officer in 2371 to track down a Maquis crew lost in the Badlands but instead Kim and all hands were swept and was stranded in an uncharted part of space, into the Delta Quadrant by an alien technology on stardate 48307.5. The crew of the U.S.S. Voyager and the Maquis merged into a Starfleet crew, their mission now is to find home in the Alpha Quadrant.

Kim continued to serve Captain Janeway as Operations Officer and assisted in Engineering. He has served on numerous away missions. On stardate 50698, Kim was infected with a Taresian genetically engineered retrovirus, leading him to believe that he was a native of their race. Kim later found out that the Taresian women only wanted to harvest him for genetic material to be used in their procreation process. Kim escaped and returned to Voyager.

Kim enjoyed playing the clarinet. He played it in the Julliard Youth Symphony. Even after Voyager was lost in the Delta Quadrant he spent one weeks worth of replicator rations to replicate a clarinet. His family is also important to him. After when he joined Starfleet, Kim would call his parents weekly.
